Production Area
Norwegian: Produksjonsomrade
Production areas are the 13 geographic zones along the Norwegian coast used to regulate salmon farming through the Traffic Light System. Each area extends from the border with Sweden in the south to Finnmark in the north. The areas are delineated to minimize disease transmission risk between zones and to enable coordinated fallowing. Capacity adjustments are made per area based on environmental impact.
