Lice Limit
Norwegian: Lusegrense
The lice limit is the maximum permitted number of adult female lice per fish in Norwegian fish farms. The limit is normally set at 0.5 adult female lice per fish but is reduced to 0.2 during weeks 16-21 (spring) to protect wild migrating salmon smolts. Farmers who exceed the lice limit must take immediate action and may face sanctions from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
