The export value of Norwegian salmon is a key indicator of the industry's economic significance. Norway annually exports salmon worth over NOK 100 billion, making salmon Norway's second most important export commodity after oil and gas. The largest markets are the EU (particularly Poland, France and Denmark for processing), the USA and Asia. The Norwegian Seafood Council monitors and reports export statistics monthly.
